Lotus 49
The Lotus 49 debuted in the 1967 Formula One Dutch Grand Prix, a debut in victory at the hands of Jim Clark. It was a beautiful machine designed by Colin Chapman (Technical Director) and Maurice Philippe (Chief Designer).
The 49 produced two Constructors’ (1968, 1970) and two Drivers’ World Championships (Graham Hill, 1968 / Jochen Rindt, 1970), and won a total 12 times, with 19 poles, out of 42 races.
The lucky drivers who got the drive for Team Lotus: Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Mario Andretti, Jochen Rindt, Jo Siffert, and Emerson Fittipaldi.
Did we mention it sounds incredible? This pleasure was during the Autosport International Event a few years ago. A must go show.
