Unstoppable Hamilton takes the win in Melbourne

A dominant Lewis Hamilton begun 2015 where 2014 left off, winning. The current World Champion finished the Australian GP first, ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg, and Ferrari-debutant Sebastian Vettel.

Following the three podium positioned came Felipe Massa for Williams, and Felipe Nasr with what was — at least for us — the performance of the race. The Brazilian ended Sauber’s pointless streak in style to earn his first ever F1 points (10).

After Nasr, Daniel Ricciardo finished sixth ahead of Hulkenberg, Ericsson, Sainz, Perez, and Button. The McLaren brit was unfortunately the only man who finished the race without points.

The Australian GP has only 15 cars on the grid following Daniil Kvyat’s and Kevin Magnussen’s retirement before the race start, as well as Manor’s absence for the first race. Matters then came to worse after both Lotuses retired on the opening lap.

Finally Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen also retired, with the fin having extremely bad luck with his left rear tyre not properly attached after his second pit stop.

And so, Hamilton and Mercedes lead the back on both championships. Next stop, the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia.
