FP2 - Hamilton fastest on rainy practice at Monaco
Lewis Hamilton tops the charts again, this time round ahead of team-mate Nico Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen under limited running due to rain.
Most drivers went on with soft tyres from the get-go, until fifteen minutes in there were red flags after Roberto Merhi’s crash into the wall at the exit of the tunnel, damaging the car and leaving debris.
The session then went green again as the heavens opened and rain began to fall at Monte-Carlo. The rain only grew stronger as the time went by, and there was no track action until the final minutes of the session.
As we did see the pitbox-drying procedures, plus McLaren with a ‘little R2D2’ to do the job, most cars finally went on the wet track until the checkered flag, all pointing to the same, “Very low grip” on the tyres.
The weather forecast says it should be dry for the rest of the weekend, so more running to come for Saturday’s final practice, qualifying and Sunday’s race.
