Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport celebrated its sixth consecutive double

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport celebrated its sixth consecutive double in style with special events in Brackley and Brixworth.

When Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport embarked on the 2019 Formula One season, it had the amazing opportunity to write F1 history: If the team was to win both the constructors’ and the drivers’ championship again, it would become the first ever to claim six consecutive Formula One double titles.

The hopes of every member of the Mercedes motorsport family were high, but so were the stakes and the pressure. Yesterday, nine months after the 2019 car first turned a wheel at its shakedown at Silverstone, the team came together in Brackley and Brixworth to celebrate its record-breaking double-championship success.

About 1,500 men and women spent months to conceive, design, manufacture, build and improve the Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+ which is now a true, championship-winning Silver Arrow. With two races to go in the 2019 season, the team has secured 14 race victories, nine of them 1-2s, and 695 points.

Congratulations from Daimler

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport secured the 2019 FIA Formula One Constructors’ Championship with a double podium at the Japanese Grand Prix in mid-October, with Valtteri Bottas winning and Lewis Hamilton in third place. Three weeks later, Lewis Hamilton clinched his sixth Drivers’ Championship with a P2 finish at the United States Grand Prix behind race winner Valtteri. Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, sent his congratulations to Lewis upon his remarkable achievement. Three weeks earlier, Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development, had sent his congratulations to the team.
