Four-time World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, wins a thrilling Australian Grand Prix; ahead of the other four-time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton. Kimi Raikkonen was third in the other Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton dominated all three practices and broke the track record with a blistering lap to claim pole position. He started the race ahead of the two Ferrari and managed to keep them behind until a Virtual Safety Car and then a Safety Car were necessary to clear both Haas cars as Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean suffered separate retirements within a couple of laps. Vettel took advantage of a longer first stint to then make a pit stop under safety car conditions. This put him in first place, in front of Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, who had led from pole and made his own stop in green flag conditions earlier in the race in response to an initial stop from Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen.
