Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton dominated the Canadian Grand Prix by taking his 4th Grand Slam in F1, second of the season. It was his 65th pole, equalling the great Ayrton Senna and his 6th Canadian Grand Prix victory in 10 attempts.

Championship leader Sebastian Vettel had a poor start allowing Max Verstappen to pass him damaging the front wing on the Ferrari. Vettel fell to P18 but charge through the field to end up P4.

Williams driver Lance Stroll became the second youngest driver to score points in F1 after finishing P9 in the FW40 at his home race.
