Barcelona in-season test: Rosberg and Palmer top the charts

F1 remained in Barcelona for the first of two in-season tests (the second takes place after the Austrian Grand Prix, in June).

The two-day programme included several aero, balance, suspension, tyre, and other mechanical related tests. There’s plenty of data to analyse and validate, including data received from each team’s simulators.

The Silver Arrows’ domination carried on Tuesday at the Circuit de Catalunya as Nico Rosberg topped the leaderboard with a personal best 1:24.378, two seconds clear of the rest. Meanwhile, Jolyon Palmer topped the second and final day of testing for Lotus, four tenths up Mercedes’ Pascal Wehrlein. The test provides encouragement for McLaren (fourth fastest). There was also an early-morning accident for Raffaele Marciello.
