F1 and Art by Renuka and Parth

Renuka and Parth Sabnis, an Indian couple and their amazing journey into Design, Formula 1, Love, and Art. This is their story:

It was the 10th of March 2017 (Our first day as a couple), and after a harrowing day at the university, we decided to go out for a pizza date (which was also our first official date), and the conversation eventually ended up on cars and racing, and I asked Renuka if she knew about F1. She said that she knew about it on a surface level, but did not follow it too ardently. We then spent the next six months (our final semester of the engineering course), watching old race footage and clips, and I told her everything I knew about the sport and my admiration for Lewis Hamilton.

Life after graduation was definitely busy, but it was F1 that gave us something to look forward to on the weekends, and it was after the USA GP of 2021 that I asked Renuka to marry me, and it was on the 18th of June, 2022 that we finally tied the knot, and if I remember correctly, Lewis ended up on the podium during the Grand Prix!! Double dose of happiness for the two of us!!

Fast forward to 2024, and just like me, my wife is also a part of TeamLH, and being designers by profession, we wanted to do something in the F1 space, that would express our love for F1 and Lewis Hamilton. We have been creating edits and digital artwork related to F1 for close to 3 years now, and with every piece, we discover something new that helps us love the sport and art even more.

Throughout our career, we have worked in various aspects of design, product design being our most successful undertaking (two watches designed for a Swiss Startup Watch company, one smartwatch design for an Indian startup, and one watch that we designed and manufactured for ourselves), but creating F1 related artwork holds a special place in our hearts, and it is something we do as a stress-buster as well. Initially, we started with digital art (hand drawing the pieces on Procreate), but as we persisted with this, we started making edits, posters, and video content as well.

One of the things that we have observed is that a lot of F1 art originates from the West (America and Europe), and we want to drive a wave that brings India into the mix as well. The F1 art community is a vibrant one and we want to bring in the Indian flavour to it to hopefully, develop a style that would land us a collaboration with Lewis himself (never say never). We have had the privilege of interacting with other artists in the F1 space, and all of them bring something special to the community, and hopefully, as we go ahead in this field, we will get a chance to work with artists around the world, and produce work that is special and puts our collective love for F1 on the canvas.
